Pedestrian Signals

  • Pedestrian safety is very important because they are the most vulnerable road users.
  • Pedestrian signals are designed to help pedestrians cross the intersections safely.
  • As a driver, you must understand pedestrian signals to anticipate the actions of pedestrians.

Walk Sign

Trubicars pedestrian signals 1

Pedestrians facing a walk signal may cross the road in the direction of the signal.

Normally, the WALK signal and the green light are lit at the same time for pedestrians and drivers going in the same direction.

DO NOT WALK SIGN

  • Pedestrians must not enter the crosswalk.
  • Pedestrians already crossing must continue and clear the crosswalk.
  • Some pedestrian signals give times in seconds. You can use these to help predict when your green light will change.
