Fails to check blind spot / observe properly
- You should always have a 360-degree situational awareness around your vehicle. In other words, a vehicle should never pass you without you seeing it first! This is done by moving your eyes every 2 seconds and using your mirrors. If making lane changes you must always check your mirrors and the appropriate blind spot (look to the side that you are about to go) to ensure you do not sideswipe or cut another vehicle off. Agin, this could cause a collision and/or loss of control.
- Checking your blind spot involves moving your head so that your peripheral vision can see that nothing is beside your vehicle.
- Failing to observe properly would be a major error and could lead to a G1 Exit Test (G2 Test) failure if you almost cause a collision. A great way to impress a DriveTest Examiner is to practice lane changes and to be very proficient at them.
